In Funk's Corner
Making the Roster
In the last week, the Funking Conservatory has been blessed with some exceptional
wrestling talent who have worked very hard on our !BANG! House Shows.

One of the ways I like to judge talent is by considering if they would have been able to make the roster of the old Amarillo Territory.

The Big Cat:
At 6' 1" tall and 252 pounds I can say the Big Cat would have made the roster in the
Amarillo Territory. With his size and appearance he would have been the ideal "heel" for Ricky Romero to program with in our latin towns, Albuquerque, Colorado Springs, Pueblo, El Paso and Lubbock. He is a team player and would have been a top boy in the Territory.

Bobby Bone Crusher Smith
There would have not been a better opponent to program with Dick Murdoch or Terry Funk. The big trucker, Bone Crusher Smith has a line of bullsh*t a mile long and would have clicked on interviews in the territory. At 6' 4" tall and able to fly and take bumps Bone Crusher would have felt at home working with either Terry or Dick. Their matches would have been well accepted in Amarillo, Lubbock, Abilene, Odessa and San Angelo. "Red Neck" Towns.

Giant Magnum
Giant Magnum would have made the Amarillo Territory team. Top opponents for him would have been, Andre the Giant, Giant Baba or Don Leo Jonathan. Giant Magnum would have been an attraction also in the Amarillo Territory for a "Two Ring Battle Royal." Giant Magnum is a true 7 feet tall and can move extremely well. Giant Magnum is a fast learner. He is also a natural athlete and very coordinated for a "Big Man."

The Mighty Samson
Samson can talk on a level with anybody who came through the Amarillo Territory. I would love to see him head up on interviews with Ric Flair, Sputnick Monroe, Terry Funk, J.J. Dillon, Lord Patrick Patterson or even Dory Funk Sr. I can tell you Samson would have held his own on the mic.

Sledge Hammer
Sledge Hammer has been with us for a year here at the Funing conservatory and has worked hard and become an excellent worker. His solid work is becoming the backbone of the Funking Conservatory work ethic style. Sledge is a real team player. He would have made the team in the Amarillo Territory working with the likes of Cyclone Negre, Dandy Dan Miller and Sir Nelson Royal, all solid performers.

Erin Alter
He is the Manager of Giant Magnum. Erin has the look of Edward Norton and understands the meaning of "timing in the wrestling business." He knows how to build the interest to a climax and get the pop out of the wrestling fans. In the old territory, he would have stood tall next to the likes of J.C. Dycks, J.J. Dillon, Saul Weingroff and Percival A. Friend.

The Highland Strangler
The Highland Strangler would have made it as a regular in the Amarillo Territory because he is a team Player. Strangler is a shoot fighter and good wrestler as was in the days of the Amarillo Territory, Dale Lewis, Hooker Ted Heath and the all time great Jack Brisco. Dory Funk Sr. always had a place for the good wrestlers and team players.

The Claw
The Claw would have made the team in the old Amarillo Territory on her guts and intestinal fortitude. The Claw is the law and sticks to it. The Claw is a company person much like one of our most trusted referees in the old territory, Ken Farber. A good official has a flare for the dramatic. (Quote by Gus Miller, Professor of Physical Education in my West Texas State University Officiating Class of 1963) The Claw certainly has that "Flair."

The Royal Stud, Adam Windsor.
Adam Windsor is a ring general with a full understanding of the wrestling business. He is in the unusual position of being a leader at a very young age. (21) years old with four years experience in the wrestling business. Adam works for the Funking Conservatory, much as I worked for my father Dory Funk Sr. in the old Amarillo Territory. Windsor has done a great job in this generation and would have been main event and leader in the old Amarillo Territory working programs with Iron Mike Dibiase, The Sheik, Gene Kiniski, Lou Thesz and Terry and Myself.

This Saturday, August 23 at the Dory Funk Arena in Ocala, Florida Adam Windsor will referee a match between The Mighty Samson and SledgeHammer with the winner to meet Adam Windsor in a Texas Death Match for his Funking Conservatory World Championship on our !BANG! TV taping Saturday August 30th at the Dory Funk Arena.

Also joining us on August 30th will be New Japan Pro-wrestling's Osamu Nishimura, Marcus Dillon, Little Wahoo McDaniel, Dixie and Simba.
